Frequently asked questions
What does the exam cover?
Sixty questions across eight domains of cross-border trade contracting.
- Delivery terms and risk transfer
- Governing law and dispute resolution
- Customs, classification and origin
- Payment and credit risk
- Trade compliance and sanctions
- Title, documents and carriage
- Risk allocation and remedies
- Tax, currency and pricing
Who is it for?
People who negotiate, review or operate international sales contracts. Export and import managers, trade compliance staff, freight and logistics professionals, and commercial teams selling across borders. It assumes you have seen a contract before. It does not assume a law degree.
Are the questions definitional?
No. They are applied. You are asked whether an arbitration award will be enforceable where the buyer sits, or which party carries the classification liability when customs disagrees with a declared code. You are not asked what an abbreviation stands for.
What does it cost?
The practice quiz is free. The exam is US$99. That covers two attempts, your first sitting and one retake, plus the certificate. There is no further charge for the retake.
Which rules and conventions are tested?
Delivery terms follow the Incoterms® 2020 rules. Documentary credits follow UCP 600. Contract questions assume the CISG applies unless the question says otherwise. Classification questions use the Harmonized System to six digits. Arbitration questions assume the New York Convention.
Do I need to buy any publications?
No. The exam tests working knowledge, not page references. Our free guides cover the material. The official texts are worth owning if you draft contracts for a living, but none is required to sit.
Is this an ICC certificate?
No. This is an independent Globalior assessment, not affiliated with, endorsed by or accredited by the International Chamber of Commerce. The ICC runs its own separate certificate through the ICC Academy, which covers delivery terms only. Ours is broader and carries no ICC accreditation.
Will employers recognise the certificate?
It is evidence that you passed a sixty-question assessment on cross-border trade contracts. It is not a regulated qualification, and no certificate of this type is. Employers generally treat it as a continuing professional development record.
